Robert Edingtom snapped this shot of the carriage that supported the CSS ALABAMA's forward pivot gun, a rifled shell gun with a
100 pound throw weight.
Pictured here is an exact replica of the forward pivot gun of the CSS ALABAMA. The replica was built by volunteers in Mobile,
Alabama, and is displayed in the Museum of Mobile. Brass fixtures and wheels were machined from solid brass. The cooperation,
dedication and skill that went into the replica is of the same sort that went into the construction of the submarine HUNLEY, also built in
Mobile, Alabama.
